I went to college in the mainland, but I couldn’t wait to get home because there
is nowhere like Hawaii. It’s just special. The spirit of the Hawaii people is just different. That’s why I want Tropical to keep going. My dad says he has 20,000 promises to Hawaii homeowners — and I intend to keep them. I love what I do every day, interacting with local people. Locals are our market and that’s why our other slogan is “Buy Local.” We service what we sell and are known for the best products and installation work. No short- cuts like other mainland contractors.
And Matt, Mike’s father, agrees. Our family has built this business on doing a better job — a better job with better ma- terials, pride in workmanship and happy customers. Even in these tough times when business is so hard to do because of rising prices and shipping issues, Tropical has the experience and long-term relationships to get jobs done. Matt says it starts with the estimating process. We at Tropical have no salesmen. This means no high sales com- missions, instead we have owners who
care. All estimates are done by Mike or myself. We as owners have real experience. We are the contractors. Not just a salesman with a puffed-up title and a 50% discount that is still higher than Tropical prices. No shortcut installs and complete lifetime war- ranties. I always tell homeowners we may not be the best salesmen, but we are the best at what we do, and aloha and stability are key. Why deal with mainland outfits when you got us? We have been here 60 years. Most companies, were not even born when we started. That’s experience and stability.
So, the votes are in. Tropical has been voted Hawaii’s Best every year since I can remember. Call Tropical for the best materials and job, but more for local ser- vice. Buy local because Matt and Mike at Tropical will be here. Like Matt says, we have nowhere to go back to, like the mainland guys.
