HAWAII RENOVATION
JANUARY 22, 2023
                                  HOMEWORKS CONSTRUCTION
Homeworks Construction has moved forward with this St. Lou- is Heights rebuild from demo- lition to foundation to framing to siding (see photos) in only four months.
The original house on the 7,000-square- foot lot was built in 1947 by the grandpar- ents of the current owner, a two-generation family. The 2,500-square-foot, single- story frame structure is being replaced by a two-story home with a total of 2,700 square feet plus an accessory dwelling unit (ADU). The attached ADU, located
at ground level, provides an additional 800 square feet of living space. Interior space is augmented by a 275-square-foot uncovered lanai and 100-square-foot cov- ered lanai.
The main house will include four bed- rooms upstairs and one downstairs, a to- tal of three bathrooms, a large main liv- ing area on the lower level, and a custom kitchen. The master bedroom on the upper level overlooks the spacious backyard. The ADU has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, living room, laundry and its own
driveway with a parking stall. The main garage parks two cars with supplemental parking in the driveway from the road.
Homeworks president and chief of field operations Sylvio Boucher says the house was designed to make maximum use of the lot in a densely populated neighborhood with limited street park- ing. He adds that the property includes a large private triangular backyard with “lots of green space and a few large trees that we preserved.”
A design/build firm, Homeworks Construction provides “all design and construction services under one roof,” the company slogan. Homeworks was named one of Hawaii’s best construc- tion companies in Honolulu Star- Advertiser’s annual “Hawaii’s Best” awards program and “Builder of the Year” by the Building Industry Asso- ciation of Hawaii (BIA). The National Association of Home Builders has des- ignated the company a “Built Green Professional” and “Certified Aging-in- Place Specialist.”
