Building or renovating a home for the first time — or even the fifth time
— can be a high-stress expe- rience. But when a contract- ing firm makes communica- tion a priority, it’s much less intimidating. As homeowners continue to discover Atlas Construction, the company keeps clients informed at every step of a project.
When Rashelle Lee hired Atlas Construction for a property teardown and sub- sequent new build of her first home, she knew the project would take longer than nor- mal, because her parcel is located in a Hawaiian Home
Lands community.
“I was really scared about
being a first-time home- owner — scared about what I could afford, what the budget would look like and what I could cut down on,”
Lee recalls. “Atlas helped me, from coming up with plans to helping me get the loans and picking the bank.”
Lee remembers a lot of “back and forth” with Atlas for the first year of planning. “They were great about help- ing me through that process,” she says. “Everybody was family. I felt welcomed and comfortable, like part of their family, too.”
Though Susan and Frank Nakagawa were almost
3,000 miles away at their mainland home for most of their 2018 Manoa teardown/ rebuild, the miles were never an issue.
“The crew at Atlas was very easy to deal with even though we were long dis- tance,” says Susan.
Frank felt like he was in- volved with the project the entire time, though he wasn’t on-site.
“The thing about Atlas is they always keep in touch
with you. They have no trou- ble calling or emailing when something comes up. They keep you informed about everything.”
Stacy Sukita decided to renovate his family home and asked his boss and friends if they could recom- mend a contractor. Built in 1941, the house presented some challenges: it had old wiring and termite damage. Sukita decided to hire Atlas on the strength of its work
on his boss’s home.
Atlas provided support
with every step of the project, including financing. When the loan was approved, Sukita went to Atlas’ office to work with a designer on his new house.
“It was a nervous time but they worked with me,” he says. “It actually got to be fun!”
Revisions — when they happened occasionally — were practically painless.
“When you speak with Bruce, Nathan and Rod- ney, they’re down-to-earth,” Sukita says. “If you need to make changes, they’re easy to speak with. They really took care of me. I’m a lucky guy!”
