neighbor near me had their roof redone a year ago and the difference between my quote and their cost are quite noticeable. Can you explain why the two prices are different?”
“There are many reasons re-roofing pricing can dif- fer,” says Bernard Balais, president and RME of West Oahu Roofing. “The first reason is timing. Through- out the year, the roofing suppliers where we pur- chase materials from en- dure price increases for materials, shipping and overhead costs. Currently, due the increased demand for materials — such as roof- ing and lumber — has gone up; the pricing for all build- ing supplies have gone up also. These expenses are ultimately passed down to the consumer.
