Over the past couple of years, porcelain tile has become a
hugely popular flooring ma- terial all over the world, and with good reason. Easily sanitized and maintained — traits that in the pandemic era have emerged as more important than ever — it’s considered a responsible and healthy flooring choice.
“Porcelain tile is really easy to keep clean, because each
tile is glazed on the surface and solid underneath,” says Jon Xie, manager of Rui Building Supply. “Addition- ally, since it’s non-porous, porcelain tile is resistant to the growth of mold, bacte- ria and mildew. It’s hypoal- lergenic and doesn’t retain odors. It’s incredibly du- rable and can be made in an endless variety of colors and styles.”
A lightly soiled tiled floor can be swept and damp- mopped with hot water. For
deep cleaning, mopping with a quarter cup of white vinegar mixed with a gallon of water works just fine.
