FLYING TERMITES, DISCARDED WINGS AND DROPPINGS
This is usually one of the first signs of a termite infes- tation.
The flying termites are the males and females that have left the nest to find a suit- able mate, which could be near your home. Frass (or termite droppings) are also common, and look like small pellets that take on the same color as the wood that the termites consumed.
MUD TUBES ON EXTERIOR WALLS
Mud tubes act as protec- tion for termites and are commonly found near the foundation of your home. Subterranean termites typi- cally build these tubes, which are made of soil and termite droppings, to provide mois- ture for them. Avoid attract- ing termites by eliminating moisture-rich environments, wood-to-soil contact, and keep mulch and wood chips away from the home.
