Walking barefoot on soft grass is one of life’s sweetest and most simple pleasures.
Even more than that, it’s actually good for you.
Research shows that walking barefoot on grass can help decrease stress levels by as much as 62%. It also strengthens the tendons, muscles and ligaments in the feet, and improves flexor strength.

Hardy, beautiful

With a rapid rate of lateral spread and density, known for its deep root system and extensive rhizomes, Stadium Zoysia has demonstrated spectacular wear tolerance and recovery.
“Families love it because it’s so soft, but it can handle plenty of foot traffic,” Fong says. “It tolerates a wide range of mowing heights and low fertilizer inputs.”
Maintenance of a lawn planted with Stadium Zoysia is fairly easy. Fong recommends weekly mowing with a reel mower.
“This grass can be cut at different mower heights, from a quarter inch to one inch,” he says. “The longer the leaf blade, the darker it will appear.”
Full sun is ideal for this variety, but it is both heat and drought tolerant, and can tolerate temperatures in a variety of climates, from low desert to coastal regions.
“Speaking of temperatures,” Fong says, “a lawn planted with Stadium Zoysia, or any good turfgrass, can help cool your home through evapotranspiration. This can actually reduce indoor temperatures from 7 to 14 degrees.”
