Established in January 2019, Pukana’s Ohana Plumbing founder and president Kamae Ching welcomed the new year with the addition of his son, Jarom, as vice president. Jarom joins his brother, Jashon, who became vice president of the company in January 2021. Together, the Chings have 43 years of experience as licensed plumbers. They worked at Hawaii’s largest and most experienced plumbing companies prior to starting the three-man company.

“When I first started Pukana’s Ohana Plumbing five years ago, my goal was to build a sustainable family-owned and -operated business so I could bring my sons on as partners,” Kamae says. “There’s something to be said for hiring a locally owned company, where the principles of the company perform the work themselves. For myself, Jashon and Jarom, every time we step into someone’s home or business, we are making a personal commitment to exceed a customer’s expectations by providing excellent customer service and quality work at a fair and affordable price.”

Since 2020, the company has been a fi-nalist for four consecutive years in Honolulu Star-Advertiser‘s Hawaii’s Best people’s choice award for Best Plumbing Company. Pukana’s Ohana Plumbing is also bonded and insured, and is a licensed member of Union Local 675. Union-backed contractors are held to a higher standard, providing customers with additional peace of mind.

“We treat our customers like our family and they quickly become customers for life,” Kamae adds.

Some of Hawaii’s largest businesses are repeat customers of Pukana’s Ohana Plumbing, and its customer base continues to grow as happy clients recommend the company to other ohana and friends.

“For us, word-of-mouth referrals are the best since it represents a very personal stamp of approval for the work we’ve done and the trust we’ve earned from our customers who are comfortable with recommending us to other family and friends,” Kamae says.

For the Chings, no job is too big or too small. From new commercial buildings and multimillion-dollar renovations to leaking pipes in residential homes, the company has the expertise and personal commitment to service all calls.
