It is often said that big changes start from the ground up — and the very best place to start making those changes is with a visit to H & C Flooring in Honolulu.

From its bright, well-designed showroom at Kokea Center on Dillingham Boulevard, H & C can help you choose from dozens of stunning styles and shades of vinyl flooring to replace old flooring in any room of your house.

“If your flooring is dated, it probably doesn’t look as good as it did when it was first installed,” says Wen Cao, owner of H & C. “And if you’ve got old wall-to-wall carpeting, it’s collected several pounds of dirt over the years, along with mites, pet dander, mold spores, insect droppings, and other debris.”

The vinyl flooring offered by H & C is extremely durable, and stands up beautifully to heavy foot traffic.

“Customers really like that it’s made with a click system, which makes it easy to install with simple tools,” explains Cao. “And the backing is built in, so it’s not necessary to put down underlayment first.”

Currently, H & C offers vinyl flooring at prices as low as $2.70 per square foot. Choose from inviting wood-tones like cherry acacia, espresso teakwood, golden shade maple, henna oak, textured sandalwood and more.

“We have molding accessories as well — matching baseboards, reducers, thresholds, end caps and 90-degree corner molding,” says Cao. “We also offer a product called the Super Stairnose. It helps make flooring projects a lot easier for homeowners who want to do their own jobs.”

Normally, Cao explains, people have to make their own edges for open staircases and stain them afterward.

“Our Super Stairnose tread panels are manufactured with side noses already attached. They’re perfect for staircases without a wall on the left or right side, or either side.”

Available in shades to match every vinyl flooring option the store carries, each panel is highly textured to be slip resistant. Panels are also made for staircases with walls on both sides.

“They don’t have a nose on either edge, but only in front,” says Cao. “Both styles can be applied in minutes with curing glue.”

Last but not least, H & C also offers some of the highest quality sliding shower doors you’ll find in Hawaii or anywhere.

“We sell two different types of frames — chrome stainless steel and chrome aluminum — in six different styles, made with 3/8-inch tempered glass,” says Cao.

Sets start as low as $350 apiece.
