Custom home for family is ‘in the works’
Homeworks Construction has begun construction of a single-family, multigenerational home on a 3,800-square-foot lot in Palolo Valley, following demolition of the owner’s previous 70-year-old home.
The demolition was completed by Homeworks Construction, followed by clearance of the site and pouring of the slab, as recorded in the photos provided . Framing will be the next phase, moving toward a December completion date.
With “all design and construction services under one roof,” the company’s slogan, Homeworks Construction has provided the architectural plan for the new home, as well as specifications for all exterior and interior finishes in collaboration with the homeowner.
Interior space of the new custom home will total 2,941 square feet, including 1,223 square feet on the ground floor with a master bedroom suite, half bath, main living area and kitchen. The second floor, with 1,718 square feet, will include two bedrooms, one bath and a large family room.
Above the 456-square-foot garage and laundry area are the family room, two bedrooms and one bath.
Homeworks Construction sales coordinator Kim Green, a certified aging in place specialist and certified green building professional, noted that the home is energy efficient with a photovoltaic system that includes battery backup.
“This home is designed to take maximum advantage of solar and light opportunities,” Green said. “The roof and attic are constructed to allow for natural convection release of heat through the ridge and gable venting. In addition, the home has double-pane, energy-efficient low E windows and is insulated with a tech shield radiant barrier on the roof structure. Limited plumbing under the foundation provides for easy maintenance.”
A follow-up feature in Hawaii Renovation will include photos of the completed exterior and selected interiors. For more information on this and other Homeworks Construction custom home and remodeling projects, call 955-2777.
