Fairway Village at Waikele community roofed by “cool” Solaris shingles

Tropical Roofing and Raingutters has extended its end of year special offering into the new year — a $250 discount on reroofing plus a free solar attic fan. In addition, you can take advantage of its offer of a complimentary roof inspection through the month of March.

Winner of two Honolulu Star-Advertiser “Hawaii’s Best” awards and named “Remodeler of the Year” by the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, Tropical Roofing and Raingutters has been serving the community with high quality workmanship and products for more than two decades.

President and founder Charlie Beeck is a past president of the Hawaii Roofing Contractors Association and has chaired its ethics committee. His company, which handles sales and service, as well as roofing and raingutter installation and leak detection for both residential and commercial structures, is a leader in the latest roofing technology, including “cool roofs.”

“When a roof is flawed or compromised in any way, other components of the house will be affected, and some — such as electrical wiring — can create serious hazards,” Beeck said. “A leaking roof is also a major cause of mold and mildew, much of which can go undetected until a health risk is generated.

“In most cases, you can’t see your roof, or at least get a close look at it … and I would urge you not to try.

There have been many sad cases in which homeowners or unskilled handymen have fallen from roofs. It really takes a professional roofer with safety equipment to successfully climb on a roof and identify problems.

“Our roof inspections are free, and our roofing and raingutter technicians are the most highly trained and experienced in the business. Once we complete an inspection, we provide an estimate or several estimates for different types of roofing or levels of repair,” he said.

Beeck noted that any homeowner planning to sell should consider roofing repairs or a new roof, which can considerably enhance the value of the home and conversely become a “deal breaker” if the roof is damaged or worn.

He urged hiring only licensed contractors for roofing installations and repairs. “An unlicensed, uninsured roofer who has an accident on your property could lead to lawsuits and even cause the loss of your home … it just isn’t worth taking a chance. A fully licensed, bonded and insured contractor will also offer the best warranties and stand behind their work,” Beeck said.
