In Solar Power World magazine’s latest list of top solar contractors, Haleakala Solar is ranked No. 1 in the state of Hawaii and 95th overall out of 500 solar companies in North America. The company was ranked No. 1 in Hawaii last year as well.

The Top 500 Solar Contractors List is compiled by Solar Power World magazine to recognize the work completed by solar contractors across the U.S. and Canada. Haleakala Solar installed 10.21 total megawatts of solar in 2015. Since the company’s founding in 1977, it has installed 74.05 total megawatts of solar and more than 14,000 solar energy systems.

Haleakala Solar expanded from a one-man operation installing solar hot water systems to offering services in solar photovoltaic, energy storage systems, energy management as well as solar hot water — and currently employs 160 workers.

One of the reasons for the success of the company is its commitment to providing new and better products and services to its customers. An example of this is its latest offering, the Humless Off-Grid Power System. This device is charged by solar panels and packs enough energy to run just about anything that runs on 120 volts, including your refrigerator, washer, as well as smaller appliances. It can be used at the beach, while camping, on picnics, etc. One of the major differences of the Humless, from a traditional generator, is that it stores its power with lithium batteries, making it lighter, safer and longer lasting. The company’s bundles include solar panels, solar generator and cables.
