By Les Wong

In June of 1983, I became a licensed general contractor and started doing small renovation and repair jobs. My daughter, Tanyce, also was born around the same time, so needless to say my days and nights were very busy, but also very enjoyable.

Over the next several years, Wong Construction grew to the point where we could handle larger additions and even new homes. Today, I employ a crew of four skilled craftsmen including myself, and although I still consider us to be a small business, we are able to handle larger jobs.

We have completed projects around the island of Oahu, from Makaha to Portlock to Hawaii Kai. We also do everything from termite repairs to million dollar homes. We work with outstanding subcontractors, plumbers, electricians, etc. Also, we can draw plans and design the “home of your dreams.”

In addition, we have great contacts that can provide financing if the need arises. On occasion, I hold an open house, where the public can see our work and hear testimonies from satisfied customers.

Currently, I am working in Pearl City, where I have completed fi ve projects and will be starting a new second-story addition very soon. Some of my clients are Brad and Momi Sakai, whose home is in Mililani.

We built a two-bedroom addition, new kitchen and did some interior renovations. After job completion, we had many excellent comments about our work habits, sub-contractors and the finished project itself.

Here are Brad Sakai’s comments:

“As a homeowner for the past 32 years, I have hired contractors for various jobs, both small and big. In almost every case, we have been extremely disappointed in both their professionalism and their end results. This all came to an end when we met and hired Les Wong.

“Our family size grew from five to seven, when my wife’s mother and sister had to move in with us. With that, we seriously had to think about enlarging our house.

“Taking a leap of faith, we took a good friend’s recommendation on Les Wong. We immediately saw what we were looking for in Les Wong and his crew. As simple as this may sound, this is the first contractor we hired that showed up on time, was always very courteous, and who stayed on timeline and within the quoted estimate.

“We added two bedrooms and renovated our dining, kitchen and living room into a ‘great room.’ He was able to take our vision and create a living space that completely fit our needs.

“As a result of their outstanding job, Les is our ‘go-to’ contractor. Since that first renovation done by Les, we have hired him two more times. He redid our deck and then replaced five pillars and two huge beams that were holding up our second floor deck, but had been severely damaged due to ground termites.

“From my years working with Les, I’m here to tell you he does not cut corners — he does it right the first time, and I’m stress free when he’s on the job. Bottom-line — I trust

Les Wong! No more hunting around for other contractors.

“Mahalo Les, and also to my good friend who recommended you.

“Aloha, Brad and Momi Sakai, happy customers.”

As you can see, Wong Construction always tries to satisfy every client.
