One of her first goals as owner was to hash through the hundreds of companies that manufacture engineered wood flooring in China. She and her assistant, Isabella, spent many days and hundreds of miles visiting the two dozen shortlisted factories to sift out and select who would be making the product.


Hilton wanted something that could be refinished several times, be of the most reliable construction, be made especially for Hawaii’s humidity and barefoot lifestyle, offer safe glues and finishes, and never fail the consumer. The result is the beautiful, high quality Kahala Floors line of engineered wood flooring.

Hilton said that with nearly 2 million square feet sold, there has never been a single warranty claim. Hilton also feels very strongly about educating the consumer, so that they can make their own decision on what is best for them and feel good about their purchase.

Offering product and installation information on solids, engineered, laminate and stone, the company’s Wood and Stone Flooring 101 seminars have been very well attended. Past participants always rave about how much they enjoyed the session and how much they learned. “These free seminars are just another part of our excellent customer service,” said Hilton.
