Whether residents are renovating their homes on their own, or hiring a professional, it’s important to find the right materials, while staying within a budget. Nikolay Mysin, owner of Hawaii Building Supply (HBS), recognizes those components, and is dedicated to outshining the competition by providing quality, affordable products in flooring and cabinetry.

With personal experience working on several construction projects, Mysin continually noticed he was short of materials, with no local stock or supplier. As a result, he started Hawaii Building Supply, which opened its doors in 2012. It was known by a different name until early this year, when Mysin found something that better indicated a local, all-inclusive company — one that not only offers construction services, but also supplies readily available and cost-effective products needed in building and renovation projects.

A nearly 4,000-square-foot warehouse and showroom at Hawaii Building Supply, located at 2959 Koapaka St., offers laminate and vinyl flooring in 10 different colors, including exotic colors and traditional hues from light to dark. The vinyl options include glue-less, moisture-proof products that need no underlayment, while the laminate flooring has matching base and transitional moldings. Hawaii Building Supply also offers hard-wood flooring and cabinets, which are prominently displayed in the company’s showroom.

All cabinets, made solely of wood, can withstand Hawaii’s humidity and include a soft-closing feature, which prevents the drawers from slamming shut. Cabinets are offered in different colors, including white shaker, natural birch, natural maple and multiple cherry options. Customers can also request custom cabinet designs and installation.

As Hawaii Building Supply continues to develop, customers can look forward to growth in what products are offered as well. “We are always looking for ways to expand our flooring lines, without giving up quality, and continuing to offer well-stocked products and great pricing to the contractors and homeowners of Hawaii,” said Jaymie Talalotu-Manulauti, HBS administrator.
