Big Rock is known for its attention to quality and detail, and for exceptional customer service. There is only one Big Rock location, and that’s on Oahu.

Many of you are already familiar with Big Rock’s numerous, delightful home and garden accent pieces, waterfalls and moss rock pavers. Big Rock first started the business to manufacture and specialize in Hawaiian stone veneer. That was in 1983, 31 years ago, at a time when Hawaiian cast stone veneer was pretty much unknown, and when all stone walls were made of natural moss rock or lava.

Big Rock is Hawaii’s leading manufacturer and supplier of the world’s finest Hawaiian cast-stone products, and specializes exclusively in replicating stones indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands. These include volcanic lava, moss rock, ocean reef coral, kapalua blue rock, cut basalt and ulupalakua stone, along with a line of specialty garden stone items.

All Big Rock cast stone is made in Hawaii with pride and aloha. It’s manufactured at the Mapunapuna plant near Honolulu using local material and labor, and as with all local companies, it is helping to sustain Hawaii’s economy. Stock is readily available and shipped weekly to those outside of Honolulu.

Big Rock has set the standard for the Hawaiian cast stone industry, not only in Hawaii, but also throughout the world, and is recognized for its exact attention to detail. Big Rock is the only leading manufacturer of Hawaiian stone veneer that is truly made in the United States.

Big Rock stone veneer is a manufactured, lightweight concrete replica of stone. Each piece of Big Rock veneer has been carefully cast in molds taken from natural, local stone that has been handpicked and collected throughout the years by owners Brian Joy and Bonnie Cooper.

The veneer pieces come in many sizes and average about 1.75 to 2 inches in thickness. The veneer weighs roughly 6 to 8 pounds per square foot, and is easily installed on any and all surfaces using a simple mix of mortar and sand. The veneer (including 3/4-inch mortar adds less than three inches to the thickness of the wall and becomes a permanent stone surface, with no gaps or cracks to house insects or rodents.

Big Rock adds beauty and character, requires no maintenance and has the added bonus of increasing the value of your property. Big Rock makes it possible for you to have stone walls virtually anywhere you want, and it is virtually impossible to tell the difference between Big Rock and natural stone!

“Our rock looks so real that people have a hard time believing that it isn’t natural,” said Cooper. “We are passionate about Hawaiian rock,” confirmed co-owner Joy. “When we travel around the Islands, we are always looking for new ideas for products.”

With a reputation of excellent customer service and a commitment to quality, the people at Big Rock are definitely Hawaiian “rock stars.” If you have a rock wall project in mind, don’t hesitate to call and the company will work out what you need and help you with your planning.
