Local builder rides radio waves

For more than two decades, Graham Builders has dedicated itself to educating and informing the public through its free “Building Your Home for Life” monthly seminars. The company was first in the state to offer free seminars related to the design+build approach to building new homes. To date, more than 5,000 homeowners have attended the informational workshops. The seminar provides homeowners with detailed information on where to start, how to select a builder, financing, and topics such as multigenerational homes, universal and aging-in-place design, as well as sustainable building.

During March and beyond, Graham Builders will be building on its role of educating the public on home construction even further with a “Building Your Home for Life” radio show with Mike Buck. The weekly, hour-long show will air every Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m. on AM 690.

“Similar to our seminars, our ultimate goal is to help homeowners understand what’s important for them to know about getting started on a home construction project, whether it is a new build, remodel or renovation project,” said Evan Fujimoto, president of Graham Builders. “Because the radio show will air weekly, we hope that homeowners who aren’t able to attend our monthly seminars will tune in to get the facts they need to help them make informed decisions about their home projects.”

Given Hawaii’s unique culture and climate, each weekly show will focus on topics that are important to Hawaii’s local homeowners. Topics include: design build, financing and budgeting for your project, what is a “multi-gen” home and why it works in Hawaii, aging-in-place and green building, among others.
