The idea of taking on any type of home construction project can seem overwhelming at first. From obtaining permits to selecting materials and finishes, there is much to consider even before any construction work begins. To ease the process, HK Construction adopts a truly hands-on approach to educating clients on the home construction process.
“It’s important for our consultants and engineers to ensure the client feels as comfortable as possible,” said Alan Twu, vice president of HK Construction. “A significant part of that is showing the client how to prepare for a project and what to expect.”

These events, which are free and held at various locations around the island to maximize accessibility, cover a variety of topics pertinent to home renovation, room additions and new home builds. “It can be easy to feel lost on your own,” said Twu. “We walk you through all the steps you need to take and invite professionals in the industry to answer any and all questions.”
Arguably one of the seminars’ most beneficial aids is the classes’ thorough look into the kinds of financing available for home construction. “Those in attendance get the chance to meet with loan officers and mortgage brokers from the community,” explained Twu. “Such opportunities allow for them to learn about the different loans out there, how to get the best interest rates and more.”
At the conclusion of the seminars, clients are welcome to set up a free home assessment to discuss further details more conducive to the individual’s specific home. “By visiting the site location, we can determine which materials will work better and at what angle to build to maximize sunlight and allow for better wind flow, as well as other important factors.”
