As a locally owned company, Graham Builders takes pride in giving back to the community. For more than a decade, Graham Builders has hosted a holiday party for the children and families served by Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation (HCCF), a local non-profit organization, efficiently handling everything from the entertainment, decorations, menu and gifts.

After close family friends lost their grandchild to cancer, Graham Builders’ CEO Danny Graham and his wife, Charlotte, wanted to help. Prior to Graham Builders hosting the event, the parties used to be a potluck among the families. Then the Grahams stepped in, spiced it up and added true kamaaina holiday spirit to the party.

This year marks 14 years in a row that Graham Builders will host and organize an elaborate annual holiday meal and fun party at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children for more than 200 young patients and their families. The children and families of HCCF enjoy festive food and presents. Graham Builders has even arranged a visit from Santa Claus, bearing gifts for each child in the family, including siblings of the cancer patients. This year’s party is sponsored in part by Honsador Lumber, Amano Construction, Inc., Sky Painting, Island Plumbing and D&S Electric.

In 2007, Graham Builders expanded its support of HCCF by raising awareness on behalf of the nonprofit organization by asking for donations from their monthly “Building Your Home for Life” seminar attendees. Every donation is matched by Graham Builders. Through this initiative it has raised thousands of dollars for HCCF and has committed to continue this collaborative effort.

“As long as there are kids with cancer, we’re going to continue to help,” said Evan Fujimoto, president of Graham Builders. “All of us at Graham Builders look forward to this event every year.”
