It’s easy to embrace this season with the following decorating ideas aimed at adding festive cheer to your home

With the holidays just around the corner, how can you give your decor a little festive spice? Geobunga offers a free seminar Saturday, Dec. 1 that will provide you with both inspiration and easy tricks to liven up any home, on any budget. The first seminar starts at 9 a.m. at 4299 Lawehana St. in Salt Lake across from Target, and the second one is at 2 p.m. at Geobunga Windward, located at 41-829 Kakaina St. in Waimanalo.

Led by Geobunga merchandiser and customer service representative Keola Kalama, this informative seminar is just in time for the winter holidays.

“During this time of shopping and event madness, embracing the holidays in your decor should be simple and stress-free,” said Kalama. “First and foremost, I encourage people to declutter their space, to give you an open canvas with which to work and provide an open and inviting place for people to gather.”

Kalama said that one way to enliven your decor for the holidays is to create a container garden display near your entryway. For those who have an existing container garden, Kalama suggested switching out some of the plants with flowers that remind you of the holidays — poinsettias or bromeliads before Christmas and Cherry Blossoms around New Year’s are an inexpensive way to bring new color and spirit to your home.

“Then after the holidays are over, you can move these flowers to your garden or lanai as a happy reminder of the past holiday season,” Kalama said.

For those who may not want a Christmas tree, Kalama suggested using a bamboo trellis to display your favorite ornaments, with a bamboo bench in front for your gifts.

“Be creative,” said Kalama. “Do what works for your home. Choose colors and pieces that complement your existing decor and fit within your space. Oftentimes, tasteful and meaningful pieces to you that connect you to a past Christmas celebration will be a wonderful treasure to showcase on your dining table or living space.”

Come be inspired this holiday season at Geobunga. The seminars are free, but space is limited and reservations are recommended. Visit www.geobunga.com to register, or call 422-4567 for more information.
