Island Stone Center will be celebrating its one-year anniversary Feb. 14, a great milestone for an upcoming business. Island Stone Center is a one-of-a-kind store that caters to Hawaii’s stone fabricators and homeowners that have natural stone inside of their homes. Cathy Uda started the business last year, recognizing the need for a store of this kind in Hawaii. She has worked in the natural stone industry for more than 25 years, and has experience in the trade shows with a wide variety of products Island Stone Center offers. General manager Selena Willard has worked with Uda in the natural stone industry since 2002. Together they make a great team by bringing in what is needed and desired by Hawaii’s local fabricators — and all at reasonable prices.
Since opening its doors one year ago, Island Stone Center has widened its variety in stone fabrication and maintenance products. From diamond tools for polishing granite edges, or cutting faucet holes to adhesives for patching Travertine tiles or seaming countertops, Island Stone Center offers it all. They have stone-related fabrication tools, including electric wet polishers, variable speed grinders and vacuum cups for lifting up heavy slabs of stone or fragile pieces of glass. They offer all of the necessary supplies for fabricating and installing new stone countertops.
Island Stone Center has expanded its service, now offering sand blasting for marble. They specialize in sand-blasting handcrafted cremation urns, but also offer engraveable trinkets, home decor items and awards. Solid handcrafted wine glasses, bowls, carved marble eggs and jewelry boxes all make great personalized gifts or awards. Cathy Uda does the sand blasting herself, and offers a quick turnaround time of one week.
A large selection of natural stone cleaners, sealers and maintenance products are available to homeowners for general care of stones inside and outside the home. PH-neutral cleaners for natural stone floors, countertops and showers are available, along with stone polish and waxes to maintain the shine.
For new contractors, or do-it-yourself homeowners, Island Stone Center has a selection of how-to DVDs for fabricating granite or concrete countertops. The knowledgeable staff at Island Stone Center will be able to get you started on your home remodeling project.
