The Building Industry Association of Hawaii (BIA-Hawaii) will present the 55th annual BIA Parade of Homes during the open house weekends of Oct. 8-9 and 15-16. This premier showcase of new homes in Hawaii will educate consumers on the latest trends, technology and design innovations in residential construction. This year’s event theme is “Sustainable Lifestyle … Sustainable Homes” and the deadline for all entries is July 18.

Developers and projects that will be featured in the October open house weekends include Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii Inc., D.R. Horton, Schuler Homes, Gentry Homes Ltd., and the Franciscan Vistas and ‘Ilima at Leihano senior living communities. Entrant categories include single-family and multi-family homes, townhomes, high rises, builder spec homes, units in senior living, vacation ownership projects and conversions.

The 2011 Parade also will include the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Green Building Standards for residential construction.

Finally, the 55th annual BIA Parade of Homes Awards Gala — where award-winning entries, including the 2011 Grand Champion, are announced — will be held Oct. 4 at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
