An Energy Source for 20 Years

Alternate Energy Inc. thanks its customers, vendors and staff for 20 years of support in helping Hawaii move toward greater energy sustainability. The solar PV company invites everyone to come celebrate with its staff members at the BIA Hawaii exposition, Jan. 25-27.

“We’ve been committed to customer needs from the beginning,” said Bruce Ekimura, Alternate Energy founder and president. “It’s the foundation of our business and the reason we come to work every day.”

Originally a plumber, Bruce got his start in the ’70s working side by side with his father. Gradually, he noticed customers’ growing interest in solar water heating. Bruce became an early specialist in the installation of solar hot water heaters and later photovoltaic (PV) systems. In 1993, Alternate Energy was officially incorporated.

Since then, Alternate Energy has experienced steady growth, with tremendous progress especially in the past 12 months. With an expanded workload — and more importantly, the growing professional and technical staff to handle it — Alternate Energy has enjoyed its position as the No. 1 residential solar PV installer in Hawaii.

The company’s expertise has even gained the attention of Mitsubishi Electric, one of the world’s premier solar panel manufacturers, which awarded Alternate Energy its Elite Dealer Status, followed by the international distinction of being a Mitsubishi Electric Certified Installer. The criteria are so stringent that Alternate Energy is the only PV company in the world outside of Japan with this high honor.

Continued expansion and focus on excellent customer service is planned for Alternate Energy in 2013. As of Jan. 1, Alternate Energy now offers a competitive financing option through a partnership with Central Pacific Bank and its PV Power Loan, which features zero percent APR and no payments for the first 18 months. Alternate Energy’s administrative service team will also expand to continue offering the best in timely, informative and courteous help to its customers.
