Beeck points out that walk-in showers and bathtubs are avail- able with a variety of accesso- ries and customized to the cli- ent’s specifications. Accessories for showers include a variety of sprays — overhead, rainshower, and hand-held with intensities ranging from gentle to massage — seating, compartments for soaps and shampoos, grab bars, and tile and travertine finishes. Extra-wide, barrier-free designs can be specified for wheelchair accessibility.
Additional renovations to im- prove bathroom safety include adjusting the height of counters and toilets and installation of grab bars and non-slip flooring in criti- cal areas.
Beeck introduced walk-in bath- tubs in Hawaii and has installed them in senior living facilities at Kuakini Medical Center, as well as in homes and apartments throughout Oahu.
