WINDOWS HAWAII MAY 23, 2021 HAWAII RENOVATION 7
A local window company that you can trust
 BY ELIMA PANGORANG
Windows Hawaii keeps customers up-to-date with
the latest and greatest prod- ucts, providing residents with peace of mind that their win- dows and doors will keep up with the elements year after year. One way of ensuring this is with accreditation from the American Architectural Man- ufacturers Association.
AAMA is a mutual third- party entity that creates and enforces standards for the performance of windows and doors, according to Bill
Hughes, Northwest Exteri- ors’ chief operating officer. AAMA makes sure compa- nies are sticking to industry standards that benefit the satisfaction and safety of consumers. This also means using the right tools and
products to secure longevity. One such product uses retrofit windows rather than nailing fins to secure win- dows. Retrofits are perfect for people who are looking to replace windows, which can be installed over a pre-exist- ing window frame, while the opposing method is designed
for new construction. Manufacturers make four
different frame types to ac- commodate the different applications that are en-
countered in the field, notes Windows Hawaii general manager Mario Garcia.
“And, the retrofit window that we use on most of our installations is the recom- mended retrofit type by AAMA standards in which there is an aluminum or vinyl existing frame,” he says.
Now, if Windows Hawaii is called upon for new con- struction, the company does use the nail fin, which is the recommended type for that
specific application. How- ever, as Garcia mentioned, with different jobs come dif- ferent methods, and retrofit is the recommendation for replacement windows, reso- nating with a majority of new and return customers.
“When it comes to installing windows and doors, there are several different installation methods and frame types,” emphasizes production manager Kurt Malley. “Being AAMA certified, I was trained in and follow the AAMA stan- dards when choosing the cor- rect window type and install type for each individual home. The windows and doors you purchase are only as good as how they’re installed. They must be installed correctly to achieve their intended performance. Other window replacement companies take
a one-size-fits-all approach to how they install the product, meaning they only know one way to do it.”
It’s clear to see that qual- ity, honesty and great care are all core values to Windows Hawaii. Doing the proper re- search on the right contrac- tor is a key component in any renovation, big or small, and this company supports its customers well after the in- stallation process is complete.
“When a client chooses Windows Hawaii for their remodeling project, we do not only install windows and doors, we install confidence and trust,” says Malley. “The customer can have confi- dence that they will be get- ting a quality product installed correctly and up to industry standards, and trust us to do what is right for their home.”
