Creating a new family home
Anew custom home in lower Palolo de- signed and built by
Homeworks Construction was completed as scheduled and in time for the owners to move in for the holidays.
Demolition of the original 1,700-square-foot home by Homeworks and site clear- ing started in April on the 4,500-square-foot lot. The next step, which was es- sential to the stability of the structure, was replacement of clay soil with base course aggregate. While the original house was built with a post and pier foundation, a con- crete slab was poured for the new structure.
During the preliminary stag- es of construction, the owners continued to meet with the Homeworks design team and selections specialists to final- ize both interior and exterior details and finishes.
The new two-story home is 2,730 square feet under roof, including a covered lanai and two-car garage. The exterior finish is unique for the area with stucco on the first story and smart panel lap siding on the upper level. The open concept family-centric home has four bedrooms, three full baths, a spacious main living room with 9-foot ceilings, and a 240-square-foot play area that can be divided to create a study room separated by bi- fold doors. The large kitchen and dining area, a total of 400 square feet, opens up to the 180-square-foot lanai and backyard, providing ad- ditional space for dining and entertaining.
