The solar power boom may have initiated a decade ago, but never has it developed as quickly as it has now. One local company, Hi-Power Solar, makes the process simple and consistent by offering quality products at a fair price.

Founded by Ron Romero in 2010, Hi-Power Solar has continued to build and expand into countless homes around Hawaii. Cruz Romero, general manager and Ron’s son, mentioned that his dad “has been in the solar industry since 1981,” and has seen the family-owned company rapidly grow since the small business started four years ago.

Hi-Power Solar prides itself on being one of the only local solar power companies with access and authorization to sell from most major manufacturers. Panels offered include SunPower, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, LG, Solar World, Hyundai and Conergy. “We look at clients to give them the best option possible,” said Cruz. “It makes clients happy. We can customize to what the customer wants instead of trying to push a product.”

Many possible consumers worry that the process of transitioning into solar power may be a convoluted one, but Hi-Power Solar simplifies it in five easy-to-follow steps.

Step one covers design, in which the team and prospective consumer meet to analyze current electrical usage in order to construct an ideal plan. This step looks at cost, efficiency, current and future usage and location.

Step two has Hi-Power Solar submitting all applications and forms for approval.

Step three is the installation. The consumer receives a timeframe with an estimate on when their system will be installed, usually between one to five days dependent on system size.

Step four is support, where a consultant goes over the monitoring process of the system and helps set up an online account for easy monitoring.

Step five is “the final touch.” Once everything is set up, Hi-Power Solar follows up to make sure everything is running efficiently.

As a full-service contractor, Hi-Power Solar offers sales and service for solar water heaters as well as PV systems.
