With the holiday season upon us, EnergyPro Hawaii hopes that you have a very festive and safe holiday season this year as we look forward to 2013.
With the year ending, it’s time to make your New Year’s resolutions. We hope that if you did not get a photovoltaic (PV) system in 2012, you’ll make it your resolution to get one installed in 2013. Many PV companies are wrapping up their installations for this year and allowing last minute residents to get their systems installed to claim their PV systems in the upcoming tax year. The state tax department has already announced changes that will affect the tax credit for 2013, and as expected, the changes to the determination of eligible systems will ultimately reduce the amount of tax credit you might receive.
As you may have heard, there are many opponents to the changes set forth by Gov. Neil Abercrombie. Suits and petitions have been filed against the state and the future of tax credits is still cloudy. As mentioned above, residents will see a reduction in the state tax credit, but that should not deter you from installing a PV system. Residents could still see a 50 percent savings on their purchase, making any PV installation worthwhile. Granted, the return-on-investment time will be longer, but the average system should only take five to seven years to pay off.
As an added incentive to install your PV system in 2013, EnergyPro Hawaii is offering special deals to customers until the end of February. Paired with our 0 percent, 24-month financing program, now is a better time than ever to take advantage of these offers.
