A new year brings change. New beginnings prompt people to set goals. If making changes to your home is on your agenda, mark your calendar for Hawaii’s biggest home show event.

Building Industry Association of Hawaii’s BIG Home Building & Remodeling Show, Jan. 19-21 at Neal S. Blaisdell Center, is your one-stop-shop for inspiration and connecting with professionals. The show brings together BIA members and members of the public for an event aimed at supporting Hawaii’s homeowners and the construction industry.

Whether you’re in the market for a new home or looking to upgrade your existing space, the BIG Show promises ideas for your next project. With nearly 70 vendor booths at the event, there is something for everyone. From roofers to pest control, windows to closets, and everything in between, the BIG Home Show is a convenient location to find the top local professionals, ask questions, and learn about new products and trends.

As people spend more time in their homes, trends are moving toward more peaceful and productive spaces. Homeowners want quieter appliances and better storage options to decrease clutter. Energy efficiency continues to improve, and many homeowners want to reduce their carbon footprint through skylights, solar and energy-efficient materials. There’s also a shift toward independence. Homeowners want backup systems in the event of power outages. They also want homes that can not only withstand storms but also protect the people inside. Protection also extends to more advanced security systems, aging-in-place plans and multi-generational households.

To maximize your time on the show floor, check out the vendor list and seminar schedule at homeshowhawaii.com. Show sponsor H-1 Construction will present Redefining Home Construction: The H-1 Difference in Transparency and Communication. Additionally, experts will offer advice on hiring a contractor, staying on budget during a remodel, installing solar energy and more.

Show hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 20 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 21. General admission is $8. Tickets are valid for a single entry on each of the three days. Kids age 16 and under are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster or at the door during the event. Fill out the online survey at homeshowhawaii.com for $2 off admission. Seniors age 65 or older will save $2 on Kupuna Sunday (cannot be combined with any other discounts).
