A resident couple in Kailua recently renovated their beach town condo using Metroflor Genesis Vinyl Plank flooring. It was a full renovation, and they spared no expense when it came to quality finishes and workmanship.

Home design-build company Montage Décor recommended Shelley Tanner of John Cook Kitchens to design the project. She selected a wood floor pattern in the Genesis line that had a soft neutral color to create a calming tribute to Kailua’s beaches.

The unit was last updated in 1974 and it had a mixture of different types of flooring like white ceramic tile, light tan carpet and dark laminate flooring. Because the design had an open floor plan with a beachy hues theme, the designer had the new flooring run throughout the house with white-painted baseboards and trim.

Metroflor Genesis Vinyl Plank flooring is one of the most popular brands on the market due to its realistic-looking wood patterns and rich surface textures that deliver a natural wood appearance at a fraction of the cost of real wood.

There is a thick vinyl wear layer to protect the printed wood pattern and provide significant durability against scuffs and abrasions. On the surface of the vinyl, there is an advanced polymer finish that provides the ultimate in stain repellency and inhibits the growth of mold and mildew.

Beneath the plank there is a pre-attached foam underlayment that minimizes both reflected and transmitted sound while walking on the floor. It also makes it comfortable to stand and walk on versus a ceramic tile or real wood floor.

This type of floor requires very little maintenance because it only needs to be swept or vacuumed and occasionally damp mopped with a neutral cleaner. Liquid spills on the surface will not damage the floor due to its waterproof features.

Metroflor Genesis is available at Montage Décor LLC. You can call or visit the showroom to see samples or get help in selecting a floor from one of the friendly and knowledgeable sales staff.
