A unique new multigenerational home designed and built by Homeworks Construction is nearing completion on an 8,000-squarefoot site in St. Louis Heights, replacing the original 80-year-old structure. The new home provides the family with twice as much living space as the previous dwelling, which was built by the owner’s grandfather. Natural light, ventilation and views have been improved by the creative architectural design and thoughtful interior layout. Exterior features include standing seam metal roofing and shiplap wood siding.

According to Sylvio Boucher, Home-works Construction president and chief of field operations, the company’s design/ build team was in close touch with the owners on all aspects of the project.

“All available property was utilized to maximize the size of the home and provide space for a large family with three generations living there,” he says. “This involved the removal of large trees and boulders … many truckloads of materials were hauled away before we could start the site work. Concrete was then poured for the house and driveway … a total of 70 cubic yards for the house to create a solid slab and firm foundation for the structure. We lost much time during the rainy months, but we are moving toward a year-end completion.”

The 2,400-square-foot main residence is augmented by a 300-squarefoot covered lanai on the second floor with views of Waikiki, the ocean, Diamond Head and Koko Head. It includes two bedrooms, two baths and a large custom kitchen. The ADU, located at ground level, is 800 square feet and includes two bedrooms, one bath, a custom kitchen and a lanai with a Diamond Head view. The property provides ample parking, with a two-car carport, two additional spaces for the ADU and a 70 by 20 foot driveway.
