Biz does it the ‘Wong’ way
Born and raised in Honolulu, I became a licensed general contractor and started doing small renovations and repair jobs in June 1983.
My only daughter, Tanyce, was born around the same time, so needless to say my days and nights were very busy, but also enjoyable. Over the next several years, Wong Construction grew to where it could handle larger additions and even new homes.
Today, I employ a crew of four skilled craftsmen, including myself, and although I still consider us to be a small business, we are able to handle larger jobs. We have completed projects around the island of Oahu, and we can do everything from termite repairs to million-dollar homes.
We work with outstanding subcontractors, draw plans and can design the home of your dreams. We also have great contacts that can provide financing, if the need arises.
Here are some comments from satisfied owners Steven and Jan Iha:
“I have known Les since 1992, when I made an addition to a home in Kaneohe. Since then, he has done three different home renovations, including a complete renovation in 2001 of my current home. That is why, when we decided to add an extension to our home, I contacted Les. I remembered how easy it was to work with him. Les was dependable and trustworthy; he would ensure our needs were met and worked within our budget.
“I liked how Les would walk us through the design phase and through final completion of the project. Working with Les made it easy to make minor changes as the construction progressed. Les handled everything, beginning with obtaining the permit to installing the floors. I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the things I liked and what made working with Les so easy were still the same, even after 17 years since our last renovation work by Wong Construction. We were also astonished to learn that some of the same people that worked on our renovation 17 years ago were still working for Les.
“Since my wife and I are both retired, this is the first renovation Les has done for us where we were home. We watched the construction progress each day and witnessed his dedicated crew at work. His crew was easily approachable, extremely polite and listened to any suggestions or concerns we had during the renovation. We especially appreciated the many suggestions they offered when we were not exactly sure about the certain details of the construction. They also cleaned up every day before they left and ensured all equipment and materials were safely stored before they left for the day.
“Home construction can disrupt a person’s life, but Wong Construction made the experience painless. We were rewarded with a home addition we both love and our beautiful home is more than what we expected. We truly appreciate Les and his crew for all their hard work. If we need additional work, we will definitely call Les again.
“Mahalo to Les and the boys, and remember to ‘Do it the Wong way!’”
After more than 30 years in the industry, Wong Construction still strives to do the best job possible.
