A new custom home with ocean views from virtually every room has been completed by Homeworks Construction on the sandy shore of Laie Bay. The home was designed and built for the owner of the 4,000-square-foot lot previously occupied by a beach bungalow, most recently utilized as a rental and demolished by Homeworks.

A 6-foot rock wall and metal fencing were added to the perimeter of the property, which extends from Kamehameha Highway to the beachfront. A security gate, custom designed by a local artist, will be installed at the entry to a paved drive that provides parking for eight cars. Front and back yards have been landscaped with grass, palms and flowering plants, which join mature vegetation preserved on the property. Located adjacent to the house on the ocean side is an 8-by-30-foot swimming pool with a shower, sitting area and firepit. A wall between the pool and an adjacent property provides privacy. An outdoor barbecue area is located on the opposite side of the home.

The Homeworks architectural design team created a beachfront retreat that is both elegant and adaptable for indoor/outdoor living. Augmenting the four-bedroom, four-bath home’s 3,000 interior square feet are decks on both the lower and upper levels that provide approximately 1,000 square feet of additional space for dining, entertaining and enjoying the spectacular, unobstructed ocean view. The garage, with space for two cars as well as watersports equipment, has direct entry into the house.

On the ground floor are the spacious main living area that opens to the outdoor deck and ocean view through floor to ceiling sliding glass doors and the custom kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, cherry wood cabinets, quartz countertops and an island with seating for three. A bedroom/bath suite, also located on the ground floor, has access to the swimming pool via the wraparound deck.

Upstairs are the master bedroom and bath, which open to a deck and the ocean view, and a guest bedroom with a Juliet balcony overlooking the swimming pool and ocean.

All materials were carefully chosen for their aesthetic features, as well as durability in the oceanfront climate. Flooring in main living areas is engineered oak, porcelain tile in the bathrooms and the kitchen. Decks were constructed with composition material and protective wrap, shielding it from stains, scratches and sun damage. The beige stucco exterior is complemented by metal roofing. A variety of window and door styles with vinyl framing outside and wood inside admit natural light and maximize the views from both lower and upper levels.
