Family home is move-in ready

A custom home designed and built by Homeworks Construction has been completed on the site of the owner’s previous home in Nuuanu Valley.

Finishing touches are now in progress, and the family’s furnishings are being moved in. Following demolition of the home that previously occupied the 7,740-square-foot lot, the property was cleared and foundation completed last fall.

The new two-story home will provide the family with approximately 50 percent more space than the original single-story home.

With an approximately 2,954-square-foot interior, plus a 675-square-foot lanai, the new home includes five bedrooms, three baths, a large open main living area, a custom kitchen designed by Homeworks’ award-winning kitchen designer Sean Bradshaw, a laundry room, a large two-car garage with workshop space, a covered lanai with a view of the stream and golf course, and underground utilities.

Other features include large windows providing views of the garden and hillside, hardwood floors, gas appliances, and a complete movie sound system designed by the owner.

Marshall Hickox, Homeworks’ president and chief administrative officer, said the family chose to rebuild on the site rather than move to a larger home elsewhere since they liked the neighborhood, and remodeling was not an option due to termite infestation.
