“Utilizing the latest technology and materials in custom home building and remodeling” will be one of many topics covered the next free Homeworks Construction seminar on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Conducted by Homeworks president and chief administrative officer Marshall Hickox, the seminar will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Homeworks Building at 2111 South Beretania St.

Hickox, 2019 Building Industry Association of Hawaii president, will discuss how new, advanced equipment and materials are raising the bar on efficiency in design and construction of new and remodeled homes — benefiting both contractors and clients. He will also cover issues pertaining to permit applications — a topic he often discusses in a call-in segment on the Rick Hamada show on KHVH Radio at 6:40 a.m. on Tuesdays. Hamada also hosts the Homeworks Build New Or ReDo radio show on KHVH Saturday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m.

Homeworks has completed more than 1,000 new custom homes and remodeling projects in Oahu neighborhoods over the past 20 years and received numerous awards, most recently Building Industry Association of Hawaii “Builder of the Year.” The Honolulu Star-Advertiser named Homeworks one of “Hawaii’s Best Construction Companies” in its annual “Hawaii’s Best” awards program. Homeworks remodeling projects have received multiple awards in the BIA Hawaii Renaissance annual competition.

“We’re honored to receive awards, but what really counts is that we’ve been successful in providing excellent service and product to our clients,” Hickox said. “As a design/build company, we work as a team and, as we move forward with a project, the clients’ input remains an important part of the process. Many are surprised that there is no limit to what they can choose. We are truly a custom builder. It’s meant to be fun every step of the way to that home you’ve dreamt about.”

Marshall Hickox, shown in a consultation at Homeworks’ conference room, covers all aspects of the design/build process, new custom homes, remodeling, and Accessory Dwelling Units at the seminar both in the formal presentation and what he considers the most informative part of all, the question and answer period. He urges anyone planning to build or remodel, whether in the near future or a year from now, to make reservations for the seminar or for a consultation in the conference room, both free of charge.
