A new custom home designed and built by Homeworks Construction is underway on a 7,740 square foot lot in Nuuanu Valley, site of the owner’s former home. Demolition of the existing home and lot clearance was completed in July. Foundation work continues, followed by framing in August.
As a design-build firm, Homeworks handles every phase of a homebuilding project, from planning and permitting to final finishes. Named “Builder of the Year” by the Building Industry Association of Hawaii and one of “Hawaii’s Best” Construction Companies by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the company has completed more than 1,000 new homes and remodels on Oahu, many of them award-winners, over the past 25 years.
The Homeworks designers, builders, architect, and other specialists work as a team in close collaboration with the client to ensure that all projects are completed according to the terms of the contract, budget, and design plan.
Homeworks President and Chief of Operations Sylvio Boucher (shown in page 8 photo), who handled the demolition and foundation work, noted that the new two-story home will provide the family with approximately 2,954 square feet of interior living space, plus an additional 675 square feet of lanai and garage space.
“The previous one-story home was significantly smaller, out of date in terms of design, and had termite infestation. It was not worth saving or remodeling, and the owners had really outgrown it — they were ready for a new home and they liked the location with open space to the rear of the lot. Building new was the right choice. We presented them with a design plan that worked for their needs and lifestyle and was within their budget.”
When completed, the new home will include five bedrooms, three baths, a large open main living area, and a custom kitchen designed by Homeworks award-winning kitchen designer Sean Bradshaw. Windows and doors will take advantage of views and natural ventilation provided by Nuuanu Valley breezes.
