‘QuietCool’ adds ventilation, helps beat the heat

When it comes to home cooling, windward, mauka and cooler areas of our islands don’t always get a lot of attention, but with this year’s persistent rain, folks in normally cooler areas are looking for a solution that keeps their home more comfortable during those times as well.
“I used to run a humidifier day and night,” shared Ashley of Moanalua Gardens. “We constantly had to be taking water out of the system, plus the dehumidifier used so much electricity. The QuietCool system is installed in the attic of the home with an intake on the ceiling. Turning the system on draws air up and out of the home while pulling cooler air in through open windows. Since it’s not refrigerating the air, the system is highly energy efficient as well, using only 20 percent of the power of an A/C system.
In addition to cooling the home, the fresh air has other benefits too, said Al Whitworth, Ivan’s brother and co-owner of Island Cooling. “QuietCool is great for taking additional humidity out of the home, plus it clears up cooking smells and pet odors, too.”
