Homeworks Construction has added three more awards to a succession of honors received over the years for custom homes, additions, kitchens, and whole house remodeling. In the recent 31st Annual BIA Renaissance Building and Remodeling competition, Homeworks took three awards: Grand Awards for “Vintage Remodel in Manoa,” “Vintage Kitchen in Manoa,” and an Award of Merit for “Modern Kitchen in Hawaii Kai.”
Ranked among the nation’s Top 500 remodelers by Qualified Remodeler magazine for 16 consecutive years, the design-build firm has been named “Best Builder,” “Best Contractor,” and “Best Bath Designer” by Hawaii Home & Remodeling magazine.
“Vintage Remodel in Manoa” involved modernizing and upgrading the home while preserving the “old Hawaii” feel that initially attracted the owners. The home was expanded with a lower level addition, which reinforces the structural integrity of the building and creates a strong foundation for upper levels, and posts and visible beams were eliminated. To complete a seamless exterior transition, Homeworks extended and enclosed the upper level and remodeled the carport at the front of the property. A covered lanai, built as an extension of the kitchen, serves as a peaceful retreat. The old Manoa look was enhanced with the addition of crown molding to ceilings, ohia wood floors, beadboard doors and cabinets, and frosted glass sconces. “Vintage Kitchen” was designed by Homeworks kitchen and bath designer Sean Bradshaw, who worked closely with the owner on choices, such as functional yet elegant open-shelf cabinets where show-worthy items can be displayed, adding touches of color. Custom Wellborn cabinets coated with Antique Green paint complement stainless steel appliances. Ohia wood floors and antique faucet fixtures carry out the vintage look.
“Modern Kitchen Hawaii Kai” also was designed by Bradshaw in collaboration with the homeowner. Custom white Push-Latch cabinets with a “Hardware Free” look contributed to the modern flair of this updated kitchen. An exterior lanai space was seam-lessly integrated into the kitchen to add square footage and accommodate a 60-square-foot island with seating space on three sides.
