By Les Wong
Born and raised in Honolulu, I became a licensed general contractor and started doing small renovations and repair jobs in June 1983.
My only daughter, Tanyce, also was born around the same time, so needless to say my days and nights were very busy, but also very enjoyable. Over the next several years, Wong Construction grew to where we could handle larger additions and even new homes.
Today, I employ a crew of four skilled craftsmen, including myself, and although I still consider us to be a small business, we are able to handle larger jobs. We have completed projects around the island of Oahu, from Makaha to Portlock to Hawaii Kai, and we can do everything from termite repairs to million-dollar homes.
We work with outstanding subcontractors — plumbers, electricians, etc. — and even draw plans and can design the home of your dreams. We also have great contacts that can provide financing, if the need arises. Here are some comments from a satisfied owner:
A couple years ago, I moved back to my childhood home to help care for my parents. We wanted to extend an existing bedroom for more living space, add a new full bath, and needed to update the kitchen and existing main bathroom. I spoke with a few different contractors. I saw ads for Wong Construction in the Sunday newspaper and saw his banner on projects around Pearl City where we live.
When I spoke to Les Wong the first time, I immediately had a good feeling. After our first face-to-face meeting, we knew he was the guy we wanted to do the job for us. We discussed our full wish list. Les took our ideas and was able to create a plan that met our needs and budget.
The work crew was always on time, working hard, was very courteous, kept the jobsite clean and had fun. Les checked in with us each day to
see if we had any questions or concerns and always answered his phone when we called. His honesty and pride in quality was evident and he truly earned our trust. They were able to stay on budget and even stayed on the timeline. Overall, it was a great experience. We are very happy with our “new” home and get very positive feedback from everyone who sees it. We look forward to working with Wong Construction again someday on future projects.

As you can see, after 30-plus years in the construction industry, Wong Construction still strives to do the best job possible, and always tries to satisfy every client. Thank you very much and remember, “Do it the Wong way!”
