Many Oahu residents are still in limbo about whether or not they should install a photovoltaic (PV) system for their homes. If you have not done so yet, you should consult a PV contractor about your options.
HECO (Hawaiian Electric Companies) has begun to approve many proposed systems in highly saturated areas, and will continue to do so for the immediate future. For those already waiting for approval, this is great news, as it is just a matter of time before your system will be approved. But for those who have yet to submit the necessary paperwork to HECO, the time is now.
For a brief moment, there is clarity in the PV industry, but that will change in the very near future. Just announced at the Jan. 29 HSEA (Hawaii Solar Energy Association) meeting, HECO stated that at the moment, Net Energy Metering agreements that have been processed, or that have been submitted and are awaiting approval, will be grandfathered into their system and will not be subject to the rate charge that future PV customers could face from HECO. HECO also went on to say that this grace period could last about 60 days and would be subject to end, pending the approval of the rate charge. (For more information about Net Energy Metering agreements please contact EnergyPro Hawaii.)
With the pending sale of HECO, the federal tax credit coming to an end in 2016 and the state tax credit looming, it would be wise to contact a PV contractor now. EnergyPro Hawaii has been proudly installing PV systems and servicing the island of Oahu for more than five years. The company has been revered through the peak of the PV industry and also has endured its low points. While many companies have fallen off, EnergyPro Hawaii is proud to still be one of the strong, remaining PV contractors on Oahu.
With an A+ rating from BBB, EnergyPro Hawaii prides itself on its own merit. EnergyPro Hawaii also is an active HSEA member and Hawaii Energy certified. The company is dedicated to delivering the best service to its customers. EnergyPro Hawaii also is proud to be a part of the W Contracting Inc.’s family of companies, which also includes Waialae Plumbing and
