A new, custom home in Kaimuki for the Muranaka family, like most other Homeworks projects, involved the entire design/build team. Homeworks CEO Jim Byxbee personally handled the demolition of the existing house, a tear-down located on a 4,400-square-foot corner lot.
From that point on, the Muranakas worked with Byxbee’s partners, Marshall Hickox and Sylvio Boucher, architect Mario Tadeo AIA, kitchen designer Sean Bradshaw and project coordinators Kim Green and Brenda Mae Marti, during an approximately one-year period, from initial plans to completion of construction of the new two-story, 3,400-square-foot home.
Recently, the Muranakas contacted Homeworks regarding minor repairs. Once again, the family was pleased with the service and workmanship, generating the following unsolicited remarks from Lisa Muranaka.
“The repairs Homeworks recently did in our home was quality work, as always. A little over four years ago, Homeworks built our home in Kaimuki. We researched the top five residential construction companies on island and met with most of them.
“We decided to sign with Homeworks because they were able to share details of the process, and gave us confidence in the quality of their work. They were also responsive in answering our millions of questions (big thanks to the project coordinator, Kim Green). They demolished the old house, built the new house and worked with us every step.
“The quality of work was great! Homeworks partners Marshall and Sylvio were so amazing and exceeded expectations in their follow-through. They take pride in their work and understand the importance of customer service!”
Muranaka continued, “In the past month, we needed some repairs and reached out to them. Like family, Sylvio stopped by within a day to do an assessment, and the repairs were completed by their team in two weeks.
“The thing that makes Homeworks stand out is the customer service by the owners and the relationship that they have with their clients. It can be years later, and they still treat you like family, take care of you and make sure you’re happy with the work they did. Great people, great work! We would highly recommend them and would use them again. Thank you again for everything.”
