SealMaster Hawaii is as local a company as they come. It first opened its doors in 2003, but the Moody family has been in the Islands for four generations. Walker-Moody Pavement Products & Equipment and DBA SealMaster Hawaii manufacture their products in Hawaii, for Hawaii. They use local materials and local labor to put their products on the shelf. SealMaster Hawaii is the asphalt professional, backed by its parent company with more than 40 years of experience, and has one of the most recognizable names in pavement maintenance throughout the world.

Certified Hawaii product

SealMaster Hawaii’s signature product is MasterSeal Ready-to-Use Asphalt Based Pavement Sealer. It’s a ready-to-use asphalt emulsion pavement sealer fortified with gilsonite and sand for added wearability and slip-resistance. The big brother to this product is OptiPave Plus Ready-To-Use Asphalt Based Pavement Sealer. It’s a readyto-use asphalt emulsion pavement sealer fortified with gilsonite, Top Tuff (latex additive) and sand. The high level of sand provides superior durability and safety for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. These products, as well as others, are certified by the State Procurement Office and Hawaii Product Preference. They are made in Hawaii with local materials for Hawaii’s roads.

Why sealcoat?

The heart of an effective pavement maintenance program includes periodic sealcoating with an asphalt-based emulsion pavement sealer. Left untreated, asphalt pavement will deteriorate rapidly. It is made up of asphalt binder and rock. Almost immediately after paving, the asphalt binder combines with oxygen and becomes brittle or oxidized, leading to cracking and weathering soon after installation. Moisture penetrates the asphalt causing further damage and deterioration to the pavement.

Sealcoating (with MasterSeal or OptiPave Plus) protects against oxidation.

Unsealed pavement allows water to penetrate the pavement structure, leading to base erosion and ultimately pavement failure. Sealcoating provides a protective barrier to stop water penetration. Also if left unsealed, oil and gasoline will soften and deteriorate the exposed asphalt binder. Sealcoating provides a protective barrier that resists attack from oil and gasoline.
