You don’t have to have beachfront property for your windows and sliding glass doors to be assaulted by ocean breezes. Those wonderful tradewinds that keep us cool also wreak havoc on glass. If you’ve tried everything (or so you thought) to get rid of the streaks and water spots that obstruct your views, you need to heed the advice of Harald von Sydow, director of Nano Tek-On.
“Even harsh abrasives don’t seem to remove streaks and spotting on windows and sliding glass doors,” said von Sydow. “We tried everything, too, until we discovered that by using nano-technology, we could remove the stains and block most new ones from forming. Cleaning became a non-chore as we found that once we applied the surface treatment, just hosing off the glass did the job. Here at Nano Tek-On, we use this type of permanent, non-stick invisible coating on many different surfaces that have been problems for homeowners for many years — until nano-technology was discovered.”
Von Sydow also uses these types of coatings on unprotected floor and bath tiles, especially grout. As he explained, “If you have ever spent hours scrubbing the grout between tiles with a toothbrush, you can relate to what I am talking about. If you have brand-new tiles and grout, I advise getting them coated immediately. The coating will cut your cleaning time and effort by as much as 90 percent.
“Here at Nano Tek-On, we can also treat old tile and grout. We’ll clean it first and then coat it. The little toothbrush you’ve been using to scrub the grout can now be hidden in a drawer somewhere, as you won’t be using it very much at all, possibly never again.”
If you have stone surfaces in your home (kitchen/bathroom counters and/or flooring) and you remember how nice they looked when they were new, von Sydow said that nano-technology also makes it possible to restore these surfaces to their original luster. He explained how coating the surfaces fills the pores in the stone to protect it, creating an invisible shield.
Since most homeowners are concerned about using products that won’t harm them or the environment, it is important to note that all of these surface treatments are environmentally safe.
Many homeowners also wonder about the white spotting on shower doors and if there is anything to use on it that is environmentally safe. With von Sydow’s wealth of knowledge regarding keeping glass spot-free, he suggested using a little unit called HydroFlow that stops limescale and calcium buildup from forming in plumbing.
“This is the same buildup that causes the water spots on shower doors and bathroom fixtures,” von Sydow said. “Once we clean the doors and seal them, a HydroFlow unit attached to the plumbing in the house — it’s an easy installation with no cutting of pipes — will keep most spots from re-forming. HydroFlow works like magic. It has a ton of benefits including making water-using appliances last longer, since it reduces corrosion — one of our biggest enemies here in Hawaii.”
