Because of historically low interest rates, so many of Hawaii’s homeowners are remodeling. If you are going through the remodeling process and planning a new kitchen or bath, you are probably purchasing new appliances, sinks, shower units and bathtubs. If you haven’t given any thought to how long these new appliances and fixtures are going to last or how much water they will use, Harald von Sydow, director of Nano Tek-On, has some sage advice.

“If you are remodeling, your home is most likely 15 to 30 years old,” said von Sydow. “Your plumbing is undoubtedly clogged with limescale. Limescale is a part of Hawaii that we don’t promote. It is inevitable. It spots your shower doors, reduces the lifespan of hot water heaters, solar panels, dishwashers and refrigerator/freezers, and causes bathroom fixtures to leak. And, it will immediately start working to ruin your new shower doors, appliances and fixtures as soon as they are installed. My advice is to revise your plans slightly to include remodeling from the inside out with an economical little unit called HydroFlow. One unit can serve an average three-bedroom, two-bath home. Once the unit is installed, it immediately begins reversing limescale buildup.”

According to research studies, limescale reduces the performance of appliances by 30 percent or more, and shortens their lifespan. This is no way to start out with new appliances. Expensive, new appliances and fixtures should last a long time before they will need to be replaced or serviced. But lime-scale buildup causes leaking every two years on average, and leads to corrosion and even waterline breaks — not something you want to deal with right after the expense of a remodel.

When a HydroFlow unit is installed (easy to do yourself or Nano Tek-On will install it for you), randomly varying electric fields are introduced to the water throughout the entire plumbing system, breaking up corrosion and limescale precipitates. The suspended particles wash away in the flow. HydroFlow normally dissolves existing scale in just a few months. It also reduces algae and bacteria in swimming pools and spas. HydroFlow is consistently effective, reliable and maintenance-free. It soon pays for itself in energy and water savings and the time and cost involved in repairing and/or replacing brand-new appliances and fixtures. You won’t need to replace plumbing when remodeling as well. For a fraction of the cost to install new plumbing, Nano Tek-On can install a HydroFlow unit in your home, condo or commercial building.

Adding a HydroFlow unit to your remodeling plan won’t change the attractive new look of your kitchen and bath. In fact, your friends and family aren’t going to admire the fantastic HydroFlow unit because they will never see it. It will be working behind the scenes to keep shower doors spot-free with minimal maintenance, and to make sure the water runs freely through faucets, ice-makers and dishwashers, and prevent toilets and shower heads from leaking.
