With today’s current “eco” water standards, the term “high-efficiency” toilet often brings to mind a rather inefficient flush, usually requiring a reflush to “finish the job.” The Bathroom Store understands that to be truly high-efficient, a product can only conserve water if it works effectively.

The company’s main brand, TOTO, has always been a pioneer in water conservation, using extensive research and design to ensure powerfully flushing toilets and other eco-minded products. In 1987, a 1.6 gallon-per-flush (GPF) legislation was passed in Massachusetts, giving manufacturers two years to comply. Most manufacturers simply reduced the size of their tanks, which resulted in poor performance and multiple flushes. TOTO had already optimized the performance of its toilets since they had been designing and developing low-volume flushing systems in Japan for almost 100 years. In fact, the brand’s rigorous flushing tests are more extensive than current industry standards, ensuring outstanding one-flush performance and true water savings.

Replacing older, larger water-use toilets with newer models can result in significant water and sewer savings. It’s a myth that more water will make a toilet work better. TOTO’s high-efficiency toilets use less water than ever, yet outperform many of the older, water-guzzling toilets.

Further research and development brought forth the Double Cyclone Flushing System which, like a cyclone in nature, harnesses the power of water and gravity to create a more powerful, balanced and effective flush — the result being maximum waste removal and cleaning action.
