A well-deserved discount deal

While the friendly, skilled staff at Murakami Roofing LLC has helped Hawaii residents throughout the past four decades via a wide range of roofing projects, the family business also remains committed to helping the local community thrive.

In April, owner Clinton Murakami and a handful of the company’s adept craftspeople assisted in the building of two Habitat for Humanity homes in Waimanalo. The Murakami Roofing LLC team supplied complimentary labor and built roofs on both single-family structures as a meaningful donation that will go a long way in ensuring the comfort and safety for those occupying the dwellings.

“This is an ongoing effort; when we have time in our schedule, we will assist Habitat for Humanity with these projects,” Murakami said. “My dad always taught me that ‘you can’t always take, you’ve got to give.’ It’s part of the Christian creed: help your neighbor.”

The project represents the third venture Murakami Roofing LLC has completed in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity — past service efforts were also performed in Waikane and Waiahole. The community service project is just one of many that the business engages in, including recent renovations it performed on the Castle High School baseball clubhouse. Murakami, who holds degrees in biology and chemistry, is also planning on donating equipment to the Castle High science department to further aid the students.

“When I leave this place, hopefully I can say that I left it a little better than I found it,” Murakami said.

Along similar lines of aiding the community, and in conjunction with Independence Day and the pending arrival of summer, Murakami Roofing LLC is honoring veterans and those actively serving the country in advance of the Fourth of July holiday with a special deal. The business is offering a “Tax Break” opportunity through which those with valid military identification will receive five percent off their next roofing job.

“It’s our way of thanking the veterans who have sacrificed by serving our country,” Murakami said. “It’s a well-deserved ‘thank you’ for them.”
