With the holiday season officially behind us, many have now regained the time, energy and circumstances to finally put their home construction plans in motion. To aid in the planning process, HK Construction offers a series of free seminars each month in which interested ones can learn helping tips including how to obtain permits, apply for financing and design the ideal floor plan.

“As we approach dryer seasons, right now is a great time to start laying the groundwork for any type of home construction,” said Alan Twu, vice president of HK Construction. “Whether you are looking to build a new structure from the ground-up, or modify with a renovation, our seminars offer the necessary education to ensure a smooth process from beginning to end.”

For all seminar attendees, HK Construction guarantees a free on-site assessment. Such one-on-one consultations allow design consultants to conduct a thorough inspection and evaluate for a multitude of factors. “The way we approach home construction is quite meticulous,” said Twu. “We analyze everything from soil texture to weather patterns, because we know it will influence what types of materials we use, or how we build the structure.”

With more than 35 years experience working professionally in Hawaii, HK Construction has the means to assess and resolve any issues that could potentially present problems for home construction and maintenance. “These days, with all the tropical rain we have been getting recently, rust and dry rot are becoming more prevalent,” said Twu. “We bypass such issues by using wood with natural compounds and designing in a way that keeps UV ray exposure to a minimum.”

In addition to assessing the site, the company’s preconstruction evaluation also allows consultants to assess any and all preexisting restrictions to a property. “Oftentimes, homeowners will spend a lot of time coming up with a blueprint themselves only to find out later a sewer easement or some other obstruction stands in the way of their design,” said Twu. “There are certain limitations like underground piping that the average homeowner cannot anticipate in advance, so it’s always advantageous to work with a team of professionals who know the area well.”
