Bath remodels give a fresh start
Have you ever wondered what your newly remodeled bathroom would like? Perhaps you would like to explore some options such as removing interior walls or enlarging the space with an addition. After all, a 3-by-3-foot shower is pretty small, although it seems like the standard for many architects and designers.
Would you prefer redesigning the floor plan because the original layout no longer meets your requirements? Here is an example of two recent bathroom remodels completed in the Kalihi area of Honolulu where the homeowners decided to do just that, and also create an Asian design motif.
The Moriyama’s wanted to completely demolish their existing bathrooms and start over. The showers were removed, concrete floors were saw-cut, plumbing drain lines were relocated for the shower and toilet locations as well as for the lavatories. Chocolate Cherry shaker-style lavatory base cabinets and Uba Tuba color granite countertops were added, and lavatory faucets and shower fixtures were Grohe brushed-nickel finished. Soft gray porcelain tile with glass tile inlays were used at the shower wall areas and on the bathroom floor.
Ceramic tile bull nose pieces were special ordered and fabricated in San Francisco.
Clear glass shower enclosures were the modern choice for the neo-angle shower and hallway bathroom locations with matching brushed-nickel finishes. Birch interior doors were stained with an expresso finish to complete the design.
Quality workmanship was completed by Hui Electric LLC, Alpha Omega Plumbing and Fuller Glass Company for the glass shower enclosures.
